For this Cedar Grove, New Jersey home, the goal was to create more than a new deck surface. The homeowners wanted a connected backyard destination with comfortable dining and lounge areas, safe access to the lower patio, coordinated railings, and lighting that would keep the entire space welcoming after dark.

Designing Distinct Outdoor Zones

The generous layout gives the family separate areas for outdoor dining and conversation without making the deck feel divided. The centered opening in the railing creates a natural transition toward the lower paver patio and fire-pit seating area, connecting both levels into one functional backyard.

TimberTech Decking and Coordinated Railings

Low-maintenance TimberTech decking provides a clean, consistent surface suited to New Jersey weather. Contrasting picture-frame details define the edges and movement paths, while the dark railing system gives the project a crisp architectural finish and preserves views into the yard.
